Youth Focus is a local non-profit dedicated to serving Guilford County’s youth and families since 1971.  Youth Focus offers maternity, young women’s, transitional, and emergency housing, some covered by insurance or Medicaid, and others available free of charge.

Today, over 45 years later, Youth Focus maintains a strong, family-based approach to care, involving parents, other family members, and caregivers whenever possible.

The program takes referrals 24/7, 365 days a year and runs the Safe Place Program for Guilford, Davidson, and Randolph County.

Part-time
Schedule: Saturdays,16 hours – 7am-11pm
(with the opportunity to pick up additional shifts as needed by the program)

Must be able to attend an orientation and complete all onboarding requirements.

SUMMARY

The Crisis Care Professional provides therapeutic support to youth ages 11 to 17 in a youth crisis setting. Provides in-ratio leadership for the youth on Saturdays.

  • Plan and lead psychoeducational groups.
  • Provide expertise on lived experience to staffing team.
  • Participate in monthly on-call rotation.
  • Assess and identify educational needs.
  • Provide quality customer service and process crisis referrals. Make appropriate determinations and coordinate intakes.
  • This position is a leadership role on the team. Requires a leader who is self-directed and comfortable with crisis management.              

ESSENTIAL DUTIES. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Counsels and provides trauma-informed therapeutic services to individuals with mental health issues.
  • Plans events for clients, including informal play time, special events and group activities.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation, including service plans, client assessments and verbal/written summary of each resident at shift change.
  • Provides oversight for shift and ensures residents receive appropriate and high-quality services.
  •  Provides coaching and feedback to support team members regarding staff duties, performance improvement, training, and other staff development opportunities.
  •  Provide structure for the shift.
  • Direct care staff provide quality services in accordance with Handle with Care, crisis intervention methods and regulations, Joint Commission standards and agency policies.
  • Direct care staff will demonstrate the ability to function safely, professionally, and ethically without the benefit of direct supervision. This includes serving as resident advocate, providing referrals, facilitating individual and group sessions and case management.
  • Maintains neat and safe work environment.
  • Maintains sensitivity to cultural differences with client population.
  • Answer and respond to phone calls, including crisis calls.
  • Responsible for overseeing the administration of doctor-referred medication to residents.

Provides in-ratio support of the youth shelter Monday-Fridays

  • Process crisis referrals and intakes.

Alexander Youth Network/Youth Focus is seeking qualified applicants to serve in our Youth Maternity Home (MSSH) in our Greensboro location and provide direct service to youth residing in the home.

SUMMARY

The Youth Focus’ My Sister Susan’s House (MSSH) provides supervised housing for pregnant and parenting youth ages 16-21 for up to 18 months. The Program coach provides support to youth in a residential setting, helping them learn independent living skills. The program coach is responsible for assisting clients with goal setting, providing case management, facilitating groups, supervising outings, providing transportation, ensuring the house is clean and tour ready, administering medications as needed, and providing overall support in a therapeutic environment.

This is a 3rd shift standby/sleep position at The Youth Focus’ My Sister Susan’s House program. This position is on-site, providing standby support during overnight hours. While on standby, Program Coach can sleep. Sleep hours are paid at the federal minimum wage. Program Coach’s agency wage is paid for any awake hours or for other day-time shifts worked. 

Schedule: 3rd Shift – standby/sleep – 36 hour:

 Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays (11:00pm until 8:00am the following morning)

  • Collaborates with the Program Manager and Case Manager regarding goals and progress of clients. 
  • Assists clients in progressing through their established treatment plans. 
  • Receives instruction for daily activities from the program manager, coordinates this with residents’ schedules and helps implement accordingly. 
  • Models for residents and gives them instruction regarding desirable health, personal habits, and independent living skills. 
  • Oversees the day-to-day activities of the program by enforcing the rules and policies of the maternity home and the agency.  Supervises the residents and their children. 
  • Provides tutorial assistance and emotional support to residents. 
  • Maintains any duties necessary to continue upkeep of the facility. 
  • Participates in team meetings and provides feedback to residents and staff about individual clients’ progress and ways to improve programming. 
  • Completes all required record keeping in a timely manner. 
  • Completes all required documentation-case and shift notes. 
  • Participates in all discharge planning, aftercare follow-up, and advocacy. 
  • Provides Transportation for clients. 
  • Will work on-site and be actively involved with program implementation and delivery of services. 
  • Handles all emergency situations according to agency policy and provides timely documentation. 
  • May be assigned other duties as needed. 
  • Respects the cultural diversity of children in the program and strives to create a positive relationship.

he Youth Focus’ HEARTH Transitional Living Program provides supervised housing for male, female and gender non-conforming youth ages 18-21 for up to 18 months. The Trauma Therapist counsels and provides appropriate trauma-informed professional services with youth in our program utilizing a variety of counseling approaches and techniques.

This position is PRN at 8-10 hours per week. Must be able to attend an orientation and complete all onboarding requirements. Pay Range is between $24-$26 per hour. 

SUMMARY

The Trauma Therapist must demonstrate the Agency’s purpose, philosophy, policies and procedures. The individual in this position will provide appropriate trauma-informed professional services to youth who are transitioning to independent living.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must hold applicable NC Licensure (LCMHC, LCMHCA, LCSW, LCSWA.)   Familiarity in MS Office applications preferred.
